I turn off 'Battery Optimization' (Unrestricted) for this app to allow it to continue working when it is not open to its main screen. I also go into Notifications - settings and Notifications settings - disconnected and set them to Default; I turn on Pop on screen; then I set the Sound to None from the list of notification tones; finally, I turn on Override Do Not Disturb for them both and that helps to keep the meter visible in the status bar by giving it a higher priority.

Excellent! Simple, works well, has a clean interface and no ads, just what I was looking for to see network data transfer speeds. works on both Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. This could/should have been a built in function of Android (and this app would be a great choice for inclusion into the next Android version). I'm very glad I found this app.

I like that it's lightweight but 2 points that makes it unusuable for me: 1. Have an option to fix position in status bar. Right now, it's polka dancing every single second swapping places with (playstore) download icon. 2. Swiping down notification bar, it occupies unnecessary space to indicate the same info that's in status bar. I see other comment saying ot want like this in old versions.
