The app sacrifices basic accessibility options (like allowing you to zoom the screen on images) for DRM. The more you use it to read articles, the more frustrating this becomes when a complicated line graph will be included that's impossible to digest. On the content side, the NYTimes ownership has unsurprisingly worsened the product. Soccer coverage focuses almost entirely on the biggest teams and the Athletic can't imagine a world where users aren't obsessed with the NFL.

Outside of NFL draft season with Dane's content, this isn't worth paying for at all. It's the same quality you can get for free elsewhere. Definitely worth not the $72/yr they want (either with Dane's Beast). Also, be careful. Their business model is like a chain gym franchise. No warning for your renewal and no refunds. They just want you to forget, rather than trying to justify the expense.

The app functions very well and is easy to navigate. There are only two things that keep if from being five stars for me. One is that it's difficult at time to find articles with multiple authors in the byline. The second is that I wish there were a 'listen to article' feature, like the NYT app has. EDIT: Now, in addition to the bug mentioned in many other reviews about articles being cut off half way, the slider on the side of articles has been removed. This lowers my rating from 4 to 2 stars.
