The app seems to be a partial port from the iOS version (support pages still reference iPhones and carplay). Android Auto is not supported - skip this one and use your kids' iPhone instead. edit: updating my review to 4 stars since the tours are excellent, and the purchased tours transferred to a different phone using the same account

Mahalo for the feedback! We’re sorry for the confusion. The Shaka Guide app works on both iOS and Android, but currently, it doesn’t support Android Auto due to compatibility issues with our offline GPS model (works great with Apple CarPlay). If you need help, please email your purchase receipt to aloha@shakaguide.com for a refund. 😊

I bought the tour for Road to Hana and downloaded it the night before. It only worked when we had data (which was rarely) even though it's supposed to trigger based on gps alone. I tried restarting the app several times but it didn't help. Also, the music that was supposed to play between stops didn't work. I have an android and I wonder if iPhone users have had a better experience since the app has so many good reviews. Very disappointed due to the price, might be worth it if it worked.

Absolutely, the best "tour guide" you can buy. The directions are invaluable; the information usable; and the history fascinating. We used the app for the Road to Hana and it helped us find several fun and beautiful locations. The app also had great historical commentary and melodic, mood-setting music. The narration is top notch and entertaining. Overall, you will not be disappointed in this app
