Über diese App

Welcome to the Surf Beta! You’re one of the first to Surf and we’re glad you’re here with us. Using Surf you can design your own social media experience. You can merge Bluesky and Mastodon feeds into a single Home Timeline with filters, like “exclude Elon”, and create custom feeds for times when you want a more focused social moment.

Ready to Surf? We’re in closed beta, but you can hop on the waitlist with the referral code SurfPlayStore here: https://waitlist.surf.social/

Your Timeline, Your Way
In Surf you can link both your Bluesky and Mastodon accounts to create a unified timeline and see conversations happening across both social accounts. When you log in, select “Create Your Home Timeline” and ‘star’ to add sources like your following feed, mutual feed or recommended Starter Packs and custom feeds.

You can add filters to your timeline and keep the conversations on topic. Pick one of our filters or set your own using the filter tab in Settings. You can also exclude specific profiles from your timeline using the “...” menu on any post. These features are just the beginning, more tools and moderation capabilities will be added as Surf evolves.

Custom Feeds Focus Your Time & Unite Your Community
Surf gives you access to the entire open social web. You can search for a topic or a hashtag to follow what people are talking about and you can create custom feeds for whatever mood you’re in. And, since you’re here early, you can make some of the first feeds for others to discover and follow. The next wave of surfers will appreciate you testing the waters!

Creating custom feeds is easy. Tap “create a custom feed” and follow the steps: name your feed, search for what you want the feed to be about, then use the “star” to add sources to your feed. Sources can be ‘posts about’ the topic, related hashtags, social profiles, Bluesky Starter Packs, custom feeds, Flipboard Magazines, YouTube channels, RSS and podcasts.

There are some very powerful tools too. If you’ve added a lot of interesting sources to your custom feed but you only want to see what they’re sharing about a topic (like ‘technology’ or ‘photography’), you can add that term to the topic filter and you’ll just see what your list is sharing about that topic.

You can also turn your feed into a community space. By searching for the hashtag of your favorite community and adding it to your feed–posts from Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads that use the hashtag will all show up in your Surf feed, uniting your community across platforms!

There are some great ways to adjust and moderate your feed with the exclude feature in the “...” menu and tuning capabilities in the Settings tab on your feed. These will continue to evolve, so keep an eye out for new updates in release notes.

At the risk of overusing surf puns (it’s hard not to!), there's literally an ocean of possibilities as you customize your social experience. Paddle out and ride with us!
