As much as I appreciate this app, in order to have the Lyric Suggestions, you have to give the app WAY too many permissions, including, but not limited to: "contact names and text of messages you receive," "dismiss notifications or take action on buttons in notifications, including answering phone calls" and more. I'm not giving an app all of this just to not have to look up song names

Great app for finding lyrics & learning the meanings behind them. I do have a small issue with the Suggest Genius Lyrics feature. For example, Taylor Swift has rerecorded some of her albums, & these are labeled as Taylor's Version. When I play a song like Style (Taylor's Version), the app suggests lyrics from the older, original version instead. It seems like the app doesn’t fully recognize songs with parentheses in the title. I hope this gets improved because the rest of the app is excellent.

Thanks for your review! We did it like this because on platforms like YouTube, songs frequently have suffixes like "(Official Music Video)", which causes issues when trying to match with a Genius song page. To prevent this, we try to strip out anything in parenthesis. It's a trade-off, but in most cases it makes the end result more accurate.

Since the last update literally doesn't work, the notifications either don't bring me to the song or just send me to a broken page Edit 12/23; now there's 5 seconds unskippable ads playing when you click on lyrics. Just what I wanted to play while also listening to music. Thank you for ruining yourself genius Edit again 12/24; app just straight up doesn't sync with spotify anymore, seems like their weird partnership with Apple is finally pushing spotify users out which is a shame

Hello! To solve the issue go to Profile --> Settings --> Enable "Suggest Genius Lyrics". The app may ask for your permissions again to access your notifications. Once activated, try again if this has worked. Otherwise please let us know.
