About this app

- BETA VERSION -

Welcome to the beta program for Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard - here you can test early performance updates, new unreleased features, customizations, and special themes. Thanks for helping us make Microsoft SwiftKey the best it can be!

The Microsoft SwiftKey beta app for Android will not replace the regular Microsoft SwiftKey app on your phone, but will be downloaded as a second app so you can switch between the two for comparison.

Beta Expectations

Features in the beta app are in active development and might not work perfectly or ever be released to the main Microsoft SwiftKey app.

I loved SwiftKey when I found it in 2010. That was before Microsoft bought it. It was one of the first to offer learned autocorrect based on your typing and predictive text suggestions. I've had the beta for about 5 years now and it's been consistently better than the stable channel. Lot of complaints on stable about predictive text, but I find it very good on the beta. Every once in a while it crashes and reloads, but bug fixes come quickly and it's a minor inconvenience.

I've used this app for many years, I love it. But somehow recently, the voice input changed. Even though I have turned off "tone" it's it still wants stick periods and commas where they don't belong. Previous voice to text was so much better on SwiftKey. Please change this. I'm getting frustrating enough that I may find another app. 🙏🏼

I miss the SHIFT+BACKSPACE combo to delete the character to the right of the cursor. It would be nice havig the ability to use AI to change the tone of longer texts, now limited to 200 chars, and the ability to automatically detect the language when using the microphone. There is a great opportunity to capture more unique features. GBoard is not far from that.
