Horrible and unusable on Android. It will not respond. Installed and uninstalled 3 times. Locked up my phone, slows down the phone, and crashes the phone. Merlin and iNaturalist work perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy A 54 5G. It's not my phone, it's this app. Seems to work OK on a colleague's iPhone, but nobody with an Android likes it. I have to carry a notebook into the field. I'm on a team checking 66 nest boxes weekly. This needs to be fixed.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Please try the new version 3.4.8 in the Play Store. You may also need to clear the app's data (https://www.samsung.com/sg/support/mobile-devices/how-to-clear-the-app-cache-and-data-on-your-galaxy-phone/). You will need to login afterwards. If this doesn't help please contact us here - NestWatch@cornell.edu

UPDATE: Have used this app for the last 5 yrs. Started this season, and app suddenly does not work AT ALL! Freezes up immediately upon opening, sometimes crashes. Re-installing does not help. Very disappointed. ☹️ OLDER: I love the NestWatch program, and the new design of the app is much more intuitive. It also seems to run more smoothly on my phone. Samsung S24 FE running Android 14.

When using the Android version of NestWatch in the field I often get multiple nest visits, sometimes 2, 3 or 4 instead of the 1 nest visit that truly occurred. I have tried airplane mode; I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but neither has provided a solution. Using the clunky app beats having to pack a clipboard, paper and pencil, but it is aggravating to have to check everything over on my MacBook Pro, making all the deletions and adding data that never made it to my desktop.

Hi Joel, We're sorry to hear about your experience. Our programmers are working on an update that we hope to release soon, and it should help the app work much smoother. For those that are experiencing usage issues with the app, we recommend using the online data portal in the meantime - we apologize for this inconvenience.

We fixed issues that were discovered during the beginning of the nesting season.
